With funding continuing to grow as additional donations are received
Surrey, 27 March – Charities and organisations helping Surrey’s most vulnerable people during the COVID-19 pandemic can now apply online for monetary relief. The Community Foundation for Surrey (CFS), a philanthropic charity specialising in the community needs of Surrey, has established a fund to address the urgent needs of these organisations.
In addition, this fund will include money raised from the National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus Public Appeal. Like community foundations across the UK, CFS will be distributing this emergency funding to their local county.
The fund, which continues to grow as more donations are collected, will ensure quick and responsive grant-making for the community and voluntary groups assisting in the relief effort. The aim is to safeguard the organisations who are in crisis and need emergency funding so they can continue delivering vital services.
Community Foundation for Surrey Chief Executive, Laura Thurlow says:
“It is a privilege for the Community Foundation for Surrey to be able to play our role at this time – to give funding support to local community and voluntary organisations that are assisting some of Surrey’s most vulnerable people.
We want to make sure these crucial organisations have the funding they need to cope, and also adapt their services during this crisis.
Many of our existing supporters have been exceptionally generous and we have already raised £300,000. We’re exceedingly hopeful we’ll see this fund grow even more over the coming days.”
Grants are available now with priority given to organisations providing support to the most vulnerable and isolated, including older people, those with disabilities and/or mental health needs and families in need.
