Farewell to Katie

7th June 2019

Grants Officer, Katie Owen joined us in June 2016. Her role has involved assessing grants to groups and also individuals through our Surrey Young Peoples Fund and Surrey Supported Employment Fund, and during her three years with us she has been a hugely valued part of the Foundation.

Katie has decided to change paths and take up a new and exciting position outside the voluntary sector. We asked Katie to reflect on her time with us.

So, it’s time to say a big farewell (but not so long) to everyone I have worked with in my near three years with the Community Foundation for Surrey!

When I was asked to write this post, I didn’t know where to begin, but it has been a very good opportunity for me to reflect on the wonderful experiences I have encountered in my career with the Foundation – from visiting some absolutely amazing projects to meeting royalty! But not to worry, I won’t write an essay about all my experiences, although it could be easily done! Instead, I just want to take a moment to acknowledge the people I have met and worked with and from whom I have learnt a great deal. Working at the Foundation, I have observed that there are many people in our local community who want to drive social change and make a difference, whether that be by donating generously to projects or by working tirelessly on the ground to deliver valuable services for the benefit of others in need. Each and every one of us play a part in this collaborative effort and I’m lucky to have been able to work with people who passionately share in a goal to make a difference in Surrey.

And in keeping my message short and sweet, I wish the Foundation and everyone else I have worked with over the years the very best in continuing to drive positive change – it’s been a joy and an honour to work with you all!

Katie has played an invaluable part in the Foundation’s successes over the past few years and will be very sadly missed. On behalf of us all at the Community Foundation for Surrey, we wish her every success in her new role, and hope that she comes back to visit us soon!
