Bespoke Funds

We work with individuals, families, business and trusts who want to give something back to their local communities to support the charities and voluntary groups, providing vital services for local people and disadvantaged individuals.

Giving with the Community Foundation for Surrey is designed to be as simple as possible. Donors benefit from the Community Foundation’s due diligence, and knowledge of local needs.

We give donors a chance to connect with their local area and directly benefit causes based on their passions and interests; whether that be supporting older people, those with disabilities, helping young people with education and training or local sporting projects.

You can create a bespoke fund, and be as involved in the giving process as you wish. We can arrange for you to visit the projects you support and keep you updated with their progress through monitoring reports, or you can simply establish your giving criteria and leave us to do all the work on your behalf.

Your fund can be:

a) Endowment Fund

A capital sum is invested into an endowment, and the income generated provides grant making funds throughout the year, minus a contribution to the Community Foundation’s time. Funds can be established as a one-off donation or built over a number of years. Endowments provide a fantastic long-term investment, allowing donors to continue giving for years to come.

b) Flow-through Fund

You make a donation to your Fund which is immediately available for awarding grants to local projects. Our team will work with you to understand your passion and aims, and will then put forward grant applications for your consideration on a regular basis. Flow-through funds are usually topped up annually, and a contribution to the Community Foundation applies to support the running of your Fund.

What to expect
  • Name your Fund and choose your priorities and areas of interest
  • Our expert team will recommend grant applications from local charities and community groups up to 4 times per year
  • Award grants to those you feel will make the greatest impact
  • Opportunity to visit the projects you have funded and build meaningful connections
  • Receive End of Grant reports to understand the impact each grant has made

Plus, by being part of the Community Foundation for Surrey, you will have the opportunity to meet other local donors by attending regular donor gatherings, and you will receive regular updates from us on wider topics and developments across the county.
