Introducing our new Chair, as David Frank steps down after 9 years of service

17th May 2019

We are sad to announce that after 9 years with the Community Foundation for Surrey, our Chairman David Frank, will be stepping down from the end of September having served his maximum 3 terms as a Trustee.

David has made an enormous contribution to the Foundation during his service and we wish to express our sincere thanks to him for leading us through a significant period of growth and partnerships. David has been instrumental in inspiring philanthropy across the county and has played a vital and very active role, chairing and engaging in many of our working groups. We are very pleased that David has agreed to stay involved as Vice President.

After 6 years in the chair it’s time for someone else to have a go and bring a fresh perspective. I am delighted to announce that Jim Glover has kindly agreed to lead the Foundation from September. It has been a great privilege to be Chairman. I inherited a good executive team and together, we have been able to build on strong foundations. It will be interesting to see where we are in another 9 years.

We take this opportunity to thank David for his continued support and service.

We were delighted to announce at our Annual Reception last night that Jim Glover, having joined us as a Trustee in January, will be the Community Foundation for Surrey’s new Chair as of September.

Jim’s passion for philanthropy and expertise of local need can only serve to positively support the Foundation’s continued progress in raising our profile and supporting the further development of local giving across Surrey.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Jim served his shrieval year as High Sheriff of Surrey during 2018/2019 and has Chaired a number of other charities.

In my year as High Sheriff, I was astonished to discover that social deprivation within Surrey is having a devastating effect on families; the young, old and the disabled alike, and that matters are getting worse. It is also evident that we have an astonishing capability within the county to do so much more for ourselves as a community, if only we can find the means to ensure that the many current examples of best practice can be fully utilised for the benefit of all. The Community Foundation for Surrey is the prime vehicle for such civil action.

We are delighted to welcome Jim as Chair of our Trustees and we know you will join us congratulating him on his new post.
