The grant from the emergency fund, that was one of the very first grants we received. And I remember it being such a moment of hope, because to be honest, that was at the start where we really were concerned whether Oakleaf was financially going to make it through this.

Can I say how impressive the Foundation has been through this crisis. The speed in which you mobilised and the success you’ve had in raising additional funds and allocating them in a simplified way is nothing short of remarkable. I know the whole sector is immensely grateful to you.

The grant has allowed us to change our whole process of set up and distribution. We have moved from face to face in centres to an entire distribution service. In the process over doubling the amount of people we feed. We have also been able to buy fresh food and milk to supplement the food we are giving out. it has been fantastic, and people are so grateful. 

This grant will enable us to continue running our vital domestic abuse Surrey-wide helpline and online chat service. These services are often the only way survivors who are in lockdown with their abuser can reach out for support and information – they are a lifeline to those in our community for whom ‘home’ is the most dangerous place they can be.

The Community Foundation for Surrey goes from strength to strength. A wonderful success story and a great track record re helping others. Huge thanks to the team, present & past; to our generous and compassionate local benefactors; and to all those involved over the years.
