Crisis funding

We understand that financial challenges can arise unexpectedly, putting pressure on charitable organisations delivering vital services in Surrey. Our Crisis Funding is designed to provide limited emergency support to help organisations bridge short-term cash flow gaps, ensuring they can continue operating while developing long-term sustainability.

Emergency support for charitable organisations

Crisis funding is typically available in the region of £10,000.

Fund Priorities

This funding is available to charitable organisations facing urgent financial difficulties to provide limited emergency support to help organisations bridge short-term cash flow gaps, ensuring they can continue operating while developing long-term sustainability.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that:

✔ The funding will make a material difference to their ability to continue operating.
✔They have taken steps to diversify income and/or made savings cuts up to and including making redundancies
✔ They have a clear plan for sustainability and securing future income.
✔ The crisis is a temporary funding gap rather than an ongoing financial issue.

Please note: We cannot award a grant if there is no strategy in place to improve financial sustainability.

Who can apply?

Crisis grants may support:

  • Registered Charities

  • Registered CIOs

In either case, they will be organisations which have previously been funded by us, at the Community Foundation for Surrey.

The Priority for Crisis grants is

  • Charities/CIO which can demonstrate the impact of their work in terms of need and disadvantage.

  • Where the loss of the organisation would also have a wider impact on other organisations and their beneficiaries

  • Organisations where there is no credible alternative provider in their market.

How to apply

If your organisation is experiencing a financial crisis and meets the criteria above, please contact us as soon as possible at grants@cfsurrey.org.uk to discuss your situation.

Our team will assess applications on a case-by-case basis, prioritising those where funding will have the greatest impact in stabilising the organisation and enabling it to move towards long-term resilience.

We are here to help Surrey’s charitable sector remain strong, adaptable, and sustainable.
