CFSurrey Awards Over £422,000 in First Main Round of New Financial Year

CFSurrey is delighted to announce that we have now paid the grants awarded in our most recent Main round of grant making – marking the first set of awards in the new financial year. We’re thrilled to celebrate the success of 66 local groups, who collectively received £422,319 thanks to the generosity of our incredible donor funds. With a 77% success rate of full applications, this round is a strong start to the year and something we can all be proud of.

This funding round highlighted once again the breadth of needs across our communities, while showcasing the depth and diversity of Surrey’s voluntary sector. It also reflects the flexibility and responsiveness of our donor funds in tackling these evolving challenges.

Grants awarded supported people across all age groups. However, children and young people remained a clear priority, with 50% of funding directed toward work specifically targeting their needs. Mental ill health, isolation and loneliness continue to be pressing concerns among young people, but the solutions being delivered are as innovative as they are impactful. From community engagement and learning initiatives to play schemes, these projects are a testament to the creative and resourceful nature of our local organisations.

Support for older people remains equally important, with funding going to day centres, community groups and intergenerational initiatives that bring together young and old to foster mutual understanding and wellbeing.

While we celebrate the positive impact of these grants, it’s important to acknowledge that, sadly, we were not able to fund every application. Many valuable projects went unfunded due to the high demand. The work doesn’t stop here – we are currently reviewing the next round of applications and remain as committed as ever to building a fairer and stronger Surrey.
