Expanding Access to Inclusive Creativity
The Artventure Trust Ltd received £7,465 from the Thermotech Strategic Transformation Fund through the Community Foundation for Surrey to open a second studio, helping to expand their vital day provision for adults with learning disabilities.
The funding enabled Artventure to refurbish an unused building at Gosden House School in Shalford, Guildford. This included essential upgrades like installing accessible toilets, non-slip flooring, IT equipment, and hiring a small staff team to get the project off the ground.
Initially opening one day a week with four attendees, the new studio is now open two days a week and regularly welcoming new participants.
One such participant is Simon. Once a passionate artist, Simon’s interest in art was lost due to mental health struggles. His family were overjoyed when he began attending Artventure in Shalford and re-engaged with creative expression. His mother Emma described it as “wonderful to see him fully engaged in an art project again.”

“I saw the pink pig Simon made at Artventure – it is truly wonderful! We’re so pleased he’s getting fulfilment from your sessions.”
Thanks to this funding, Artventure is not just making art – it’s making a difference.
