£623,549 awarded to strengthen communities across Surrey
The Community Foundation for Surrey is delighted to announce that almost £625,000 has been awarded to local charities and community groups through the latest Main Grants Programme and Strategic Transformation Programme rounds.
Through the Main Grants Programme, £479,321 has been awarded to 69 projects delivering a wide range of services that will improve the lives of people across Surrey. From supporting mental health and wellbeing to tackling inequality, improving educational opportunities and strengthening communities, these grants will help local organisations respond to the issues that matter most to Surrey residents.
A defining feature of the Community Foundation's grant-making is the way in which local philanthropy is brought together to maximise impact. In this funding round, 36 donor funds worked together to consider applications and make awards. Collaboration between fundholders meant that 20 grants received support from two or more donor funds, enabling more organisations to receive the funding they needed.
Funding was awarded across a broad range of priorities, with the largest areas of investment being:
Education and Training – £135,000
Health and Wellbeing – £127,000
Fairness, Equality and Inclusion – £124,000
Additional grants also supported projects focused on community sector development, sport and recreation, ensuring that a diverse range of local organisations can continue to make a positive difference in Surrey.
Alongside the Main Grants Programme, the Community Foundation has also completed its latest Strategic Transformation Programme round. Designed to help charities become stronger and more sustainable, the programme awarded £144,228 to 15 organisations.
Five donor funds came together to support projects that will strengthen charities for the future, including developing monitoring and evaluation systems, carrying out strategic reviews of merger and partnership opportunities, and investing in essential software and infrastructure. By building organisational resilience, these grants will help charities continue delivering vital services to Surrey communities for years to come.
Together, these two funding programmes represent an investment of £623,549 into Surrey's voluntary sector, supporting both the delivery of frontline services today and the long-term sustainability of local charities.
The Community Foundation for Surrey would like to thank all of the generous donors whose continued support makes this funding possible. By pooling resources and working collaboratively, they are helping charities respond to local needs and build stronger, more resilient communities across Surrey.
