Surrey Together Against Poverty: Donations will be Doubled
“When you work a minimum wage job like I was, you only make like £1,100 a month […] so you’re left with £300 a month [after rent] for everything you’ve got to pay for”.
These are the words that Jim shared at our recent Poverty Webinar[watch here], which we co-hosted with two prominent Surrey charities working to alleviate deprivation in Surrey: The Good Company and The Walton Charity. We were encouraged that more than 40 local donors, charities, and Surrey government organisations attended this important webinar.
Poverty doesn’t always ‘look’ how we expect it to - and it doesn’t only happen in other counties. Right here in Surrey, thousands of people are struggling to keep up with rising costs, facing tough choices between food, heating, rent, and transport. Many are working, caring for family, or living on fixed incomes, yet still finding themselves one crisis away from hardship. These are our neighbours, our communities, and people who deserve our compassion and support.
What can we do about poverty in Surrey?
By donating to Surrey Together Against Poverty, you can make a real difference close to home. Your generosity helps local charities provide immediate, practical support, from emergency food and essentials to advice, wellbeing services, and long-term help that empowers people to regain stability. Every pound stays in Surrey and goes directly to those who need it most.
Our total fundraising target is £15,000 and thanks to the generosity of a Donor, we have match-funding available up to £5,000 so any donations are doubled.
Please donate. Together, our acts of kindness can add up to lasting change, ensuring no one in our county is left behind.
