Hall Hunter Community Fund: Growing Opportunity, Wellbeing and Resilience Across Surrey
Hall Hunter, renowned for their sustainably produced berries and fruit farms, created the Hall Hunter Community Fund in 2023 to give back to the communities where they live and work—supporting people, projects and places across Surrey.
Through this commitment, they partner with the Community Foundation for Surrey to ensure their funding addresses its priorities which include food security, healthy eating, education, farming and community development. Now in its second year, it continues to champion grassroots organisations that strengthen local communities.
Supporting people where it matters most
Since launch, the Fund has awarded over £25,000 in grants, supporting more than 550 people. Funding has focused on mental health, wellbeing, education and community development, benefiting children and young people, families, people with learning difficulties and those facing mental health challenges. These grants help tackle inequality and widen access to vital opportunities.
Nature, connection and wellbeing
Projects like Hive Helpers use beekeeping, conservation and nature walks to improve wellbeing and social connection. Participants learned new skills, engaged with nature and worked creatively. For Brenda, aged 86, the project fostered friendships, purpose and renewed confidence—showcasing how community-led initiatives reduce loneliness and improve quality of life.
Empowering young people
The Fund has supported programmes that bring young people together through cooking and shared meals. Participants explored different cultures, developed practical skills and built teamwork and communication. Many took meals home to their families, encouraging healthier eating. Liam, aged 14, who took part in a project at Stanwell Events gained confidence and is now considering a future career in the food industry—evidence that small grants can unlock ambition.
Sustaining community farms and volunteering
Support for Farnham Community Farm has helped maintain essential staffing and running costs, enabling the farm to continue tackling food poverty and providing training. Nearly 300 volunteers took part this year, many reporting improved wellbeing and reduced loneliness. Some progressed into paid employment, demonstrating how community initiatives can open pathways to work.

Corporate Funds create local impact
The Hall Hunter Community Fund is one of the Community Foundation for Surrey’s Corporate Funds, which help businesses achieve meaningful social impact by connecting them with local communities and the charities making a difference. For Hall Hunter, this partnership reflects their values while ensuring funding reaches the people and places that need it most.
This Fund demonstrates the powerful benefits a corporate fund can deliver—for local communities, and for businesses’ staff, customers and brand values. Companies can also support Community Foundation for Surrey’s Collective Funds, pooling resources to tackle Surrey’s most pressing issues together.
If you are interested in setting up a corporate fund or exploring ways to give, we would be delighted to help you create meaningful, lasting impact.
