Celebrating a Much Deserved Award!
Recognising a True Community Leader
Neelam Devesher DL MBE
The Community Foundation for Surrey is delighted to announce that our Chair, Neelam Devesher DL, who is also Chair of Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum, has been awarded MBE in His Majesty the King’s Birthday Honours List for services to charity and to the community in Surrey.
This prestigious honour recognises Neelam’s outstanding dedication and service to the community. Throughout her time with the Community Foundation for Surrey, Neelam has championed and supported those most in need in our communities across Surrey, and has always encouraged us to empower local people, build stronger more resilient neighbourhoods, and create lasting, positive change so that no one is left behind in our county.
Commenting on the award, Neelam said: I am deeply honoured and humbled to receive this recognition. It has been a privilege to serve our communities and to work alongside so many inspiring individuals and organisations who are making a real difference every day.
This award is a reflection of their dedication as much as mine. I am especially proud to represent Surrey, a county full of many dedicated volunteers, compassion, generosity, and a strong spirit of community. I am also immensely proud of the work done by the Community Foundation for Surrey, which plays such a vital role in supporting local charities and addressing community needs across the county.
I accept this honour with gratitude and renewed commitment to continue working in Surrey and its charities and communities with a focus on helping to address inequity faced by communities living with poverty and deprivation.
