Our Surrey Community Music Fund supports music projects which enable young people to benefit from regular music activities, who would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.

Awards for Young Musicians – £2,000
Awards for Young Musicians is a national charity established in 1998 to enable musically talented young people from low income families to fulfil their potential.
A grant was awarded to enable young musicians to be supported through the provision of instruments and tuition for gifted young people from financially disadvantaged backgrounds to develop their skills, as well as improve their wellbeing through the provision of music.
Raiders Performing Arts – £3,000
Raiders Performing Arts is a small youth marching band in the Guildford and Woking area for children up to the age of 19. They meet weekly enabling children from any background to learn to play an instrument.
A grant was awarded for the purchase of brass and percussion instruments, helping provide opportunities for children to learn to play, to be part of a team and benefit regular access to music. The band provides opportunities for isolated young people, as well as improving social skills, team spirit and simply having fun!
